The Marble

Kovadyarvi natural marble is a masterpiece crafted by nature itself. Its unique patterns, formed over two billion years, preserve the history of our planet and its ancient eras.

The coloration of the marble is determined by its mineral content. The palette includes greenish-gray, gray-greenish, gray, dark gray, white, bluish-green, yellowish-gray, black, and pink varieties. Certain zones feature ophicalcite—a serpentine marble in bluish-green and yellow-green hues. A defining characteristic is the presence of tremolite and actinolite aggregates, which form a structural framework within the carbonate mass.

Textural and Structural Varieties

The deposit offers several distinct varieties based on structural and textural features:

  • Banded and Primary Layered Textures: Alternating bands of varying colors, mineral compositions, and grain sizes that create intricate, winding patterns. Some zones feature alternating layers of carbonate and cryptocrystalline quartz or carbonaceous matter.

  • Mottled Textures: Resulting from the clustered distribution of silicate minerals such as serpentine, amphiboles, pyroxenes, chlorite, and quartz.

  • Massive Textures: Typical for uniform white, light gray, and occasionally black marbles.

  • Veined Varieties: Featuring delicate, branching veins of calcite, chlorite, and quartz.

The structure is predominantly fine-grained, with occasional medium-grained or unevenly grained areas. When polished to a mirror finish or processed into smooth textures, the marble reveals a rich color depth. The “landscape” varieties are classified as highly decorative.
